The system allows for the spider system’s articulated fittings (ball bolts or cushions) without sacrificing the building’s interior space. When you combine the spider system with Cabletek’s structural system, you have the properties and advantages of both systems:
Using spider fittings with the Cabletek system provides the best alternative when using large-size glass panels, without having to take up space from the building’s interior.
The glass must be perforated to mount the spider fittings, which can be supplied in aluminum or stainless steel body, with cushion connectors or ball bolts.
The spider fitting is supported onto the cable from its center. The cable keeps the spider fitting fixed in its place.
The system can be used with monolithic tempered glass, laminated tempered glass, multiple glazing, and insulated systems (double or triple glazing). The system is applied with a separation between glass panels of 10 millimeters up to 13 millimeters, depending on the specific project’s analysis; with a glass width of 8 millimeters and higher.
The system is formed by prestressed cables which provide rigidity to the façade as they work together with the glass. The cables of Cabletek’s structural system practically go unnoticed as they follow the unions between glass panels.
The cables can be supplied in stainless steel or galvanized steel. Our Kinetic Technical Support Department can advice on your best alternative based on your project’s environmental and structural conditions.
Whether for a residential projects or monumental buildings, Kinetic’s Cabletek System can be used in projects of any dimension. However, the building’s construction must be considered as the structural requirements of the support frame can be considerably higher compared to other systems.
